For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
There are many times I find myself feeling so very alone. I know God is there when others are not, but there are moments when I am unable to call to Him. The words will not come and my heart shudders with despair. My head knows God is surrounding me and I am not alone, still, I am silent. God promises to “enlighten my darkness”. He knows I can’t call out, He knows.
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
God is the only One able to lift me up. He alone will carry me through to the other side of darkness. There are many types of darkness. There may be sadness, or despair. Darkness may be in your heart, your soul or your mind. It may take the form of grief for a lost loved one, depression, financial struggles, or many other ways. It is different for everyone but no less from one person to another. Your darkness is as great a burden on you and as important to God as each of His children’s. With God in my corner and helping me conquer and overcome, “whom shall I fear”? No one!
Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all you stars of light!
When we are marching through the darkest night with no light to show us the way, praise! Even when we are not able to call out, try to find a small part of our spirit to say, thank you Father. As the moon shines at night, this will start to break up the blackness around us. Soon, we will find the path is brighter and we are able to see the clearer ahead. Our load becomes lighter and we are able to walk a little taller. Each step we take we gain more light and less burden.
2 Samuel 23:4
And he shall be like the light of the morning when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, like the tender grass springing out of the earth, by clear shining after rain.
We burst forth from the deep forest, into the clear path. We look around and find the full moon caressing us with its light. A new light, a new moon, a new path. God has brought us to a new day. We are startled to realize, there is joy again welling from deep inside. The light of the moon has guided to the full light of the Son. Praise His Holy Name!
