Accepted As Perfectly Beautiful

Jenna looked at her To -do list that seemed inexhaustible and threw herself helplessly on the couch, she was exhausted to the last atom of her strength.
“Oh boy, not even half way through the list!” she heaved a deep sigh of frustration.
Just then she heard the doorbell ring and immediately flung to her feet to get it.
“Hey,” she said without expression as her boyfriend Keith stood in the doorway with a bouquet of flowers in his hand. His eyes lit up as He flashed her a smile with his incredibly white teeth.
“Date night today,” he tried to remain exuberant although he knew exactly what had just happened.
“You forgot again? Didn’t you?”
Keith tried to hide the disappointment in his eyes. Even with her rugged appearance, hair falling randomly on her face and wet brow obviously from the hard work she must have been at, her beauty could not be hidden. Keith smiled at the thought.
“Aaaah, I’m so sorry Keith,” she managed to say through the guilt strip that mercilessly shot through her gut.
Keith nodded understandably. This was not the first time this had happened. He could not stand there and pretend that this had not taken a negative toll on their relationship.
“Jenna, as much as I love you, you know lately that I have been feeling so distant from you. Other things and people always come first and by the end of the day there’s no more time left for me. I always get the leftovers.”
“That is not true Keith! I try to do things for you, like drop off your clothes at the Dry cleaners and help walk your dog!” she tried to deny it.
“Yes, but I am not talking about things you do for me, how about just hanging out with me and spending that time to build our relationship?”
“But I thought…” Jenna could not find the right defence or explanation as she run her hands through her hair.
“I miss those times when your face would light up when I came to see you and you would make time for us to take a walk or just talk.” He ran his fingers gently along her cheek as the thought of why he still stayed revived in his heart. She was perfectly beautiful. He loved her unconditionally and she was worth it all.
Keith handed her the bouquet of flowers and kissed her cheek lightly. I will be waiting for your call.
Jenna closed the door slowly and almost reluctantly as Keith walked away. She was amazed at his ability to remain all too patient with her in spite of the many times she had let him down. The unconditional Love and acceptance that she felt made all the pressure that normally mounted in her for performance dissolve in that moment. Keith was right. That was all she needed to do. To quit trying to please and earn love through performance. She was unconditionally accepted.

Ephesians 1:6 “To the praise of the glory of His Grace, wherein He has made us accepted in the beloved.”
