Chosen By Love

In the beginning, God created the universe and everything in it; He created earth. Once He saw earth was good, He created everything from the birds of the sky to the fish of the seas, He created man. But man was different, God spoke everything into existence until the time came. He then descended to earth, and crafted man with his hands from the dirt. To further prove His love for the creatures who did not yet exist, He made them alive with His very breath. With this breath of life, He physically and spiritually proved His love; He proved His choice.

1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

This choice that God made has no flaws, for He has no flaws. Even after we ruined the promise of abiding with Him, after we used the breath of life He bestowed on us to defy Him, He still loved us; God still chose us. He showed us a second time, a second among many, that His love for us was both physical and spiritual, and had no bounds. God showed us His love is unconditional in the form of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, coming to save us. He healed the sick and broken, and paid the ultimate price that we may yet have another opportunity to be with Him. He chose us out of all of creation, and He still chose us out of the darkness of sin.

We have been chosen by God, so that we can proclaim how great He is! Life is no game, and Jesus showed us the importance of this. Many people seek salvation, but are not willing to pay the price. Being a Christian should not, no IS NOT, about going to Heaven or escaping Hell. Christianity is about living our lives to further God’s glory. We were chosen by God to bring glory to Him, seek Him, follow Him. Christ says this many times, and makes it abundantly obvious in Luke 9:23:

If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

We were chosen by God, chosen with Love, and when we decide to accept His choice and follow Him, we accept that commission, that calling on our life to seek Him and bring Him glory. That is what Christianity is, and is what our lives should look like.
My goal and prayer is to be able to truthfully say before God as Paul says here:

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.  1 Corinthians 9:24-27

So that one day, I might hear the words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Being chosen is an amazing opportunity; one we are not deserving of. So let’s seek God, grow closer to Him, and thank Him for His choice.
