Fear

Psalm 56: 3-4
New International Version (NIV)

3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
4 In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?

Psalm 118:6
New International Version (NIV)

6 The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

These are just two instances it says “do not fear” in the Bible. There are dozens more like those two. It is clear that we have no reason to fear anything, but it is common among us sinners to fear what people think about us, that we will not be good enough at something, or we will not get what we want. Take control of the fear as soon as you see it coming. Take control of the fear before it takes control of you. We have no reason to fear, as He says in Isaiah 41:10:

“Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; I will help you;
I will hold onto you with my righteous right hand.”

Another reason not to fear, God of all things holds us in His hand. He may allow temptations to fall upon us, but He will never allow something that we cannot handle. Remember: “All things are possible through Jesus Christ who strengthens me.” Recite that verse when you are tempted to give up because, “it is just too hard”; “I’m too tired”, or “I don’t have enough time.” ALL things are possible through Christ. All we have to do is ask Him for help. The thing that is helpful to recite when tempted to be fearful is Psalm 23:

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the path of righteousness for His names sake.
Yea, though I wake through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil:
for thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the midst of mine enemies; Thou anointed my head with oil;
my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life: and will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
